Great points by Bill Daley of the Chicago Tribune… I know I’m not at the point where holding the glass by the bowl affects how I taste the wine… Defending our stem holding practices just got a lot easier, thanks to the points Bill makes in his article.
Thanks Bill
matt both providers are up now
I always hold my glass by the stem, and the reason why is just as Bill says in his article, its the visual deal. Most of us cannot tell the difference in the taste that much, but why would want to have a dirty glass with fingerprints all over it clouding the vision of a $10 or more glass of wine. You may as well just start with a dirty glass in the first place………just sayin.
Sorry for the double post, I was trying to edit.
Couldn’t agree more. Althought I don’t consider myself a “wine snob” I do like to at least look like I know what I’m doing
Plus, I get pretty pissy when I see my lip marks on the rim, couldn’t imagine finger prints all over the bowl.
