Letter to NBC about TribTron May 28, 2009

To whom it may concern,

As a loyal Pittsburgh Penguins fan I have been very dismayed at NBC’s decision regarding the TribTron during this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. It is my understanding that NBC had no problem with the TribTron during last year’s finals and would have hoped your organization might have continued the tradition this year.

I do not like to assume why your organization has chosen a different approach this year and strongly urge you to reconsider your stance specifically for these Stanley Cup Finals. I do not intend to issue idle threats such as I will not watch the games as that is simply not the case. I will watch my Penguins “come hell or high water” but I will change the channel during commercial breaks, mute commercials, do whatever it takes to make it unprofitable for companies to advertise with you during this time period. Also, I will encourage everyone who will listen to join me in my boycott. Quite simply put, you are alienating an entire market of Penguins fans by disallowing the viewing of playoff games via the TribTron. Please keep in mind, in this age of technology, that my message is not geographically bound. I will use every weapon in my arsenal such as: my blog, twitter, YouTube, e-mail, and of course word of mouth to ensure EVERY hockey fan that will listen understands just how much I feel betrayed by NBC.

In closing I respectfully request you reconsider your position on the TribTron for these Stanley Cup Finals.

Kind Regards,

Matt Trevors
